A Semiparametric Test of Agent's Information Sets for Games of Incomplete Information
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose semiparametric tests of misspeci cation of agent's information for games of incomplete information. The tests use the intuition that the opponent's choices should not predict a player's choice conditional on the proposed information available to the player. The tests are designed to check against some commonly used null hypotheses (Bajari et al. (2010), Aradillas-Lopez (2010)). We show that our tests have power to discriminate between common alternatives even in small samples. We apply our tests to data on entry in the US airline industry. Both the assumptions of independent and correlated private shocks are not supported by the data. ∗Corresponding address: Department of Economics, Social Science Centre, Room 4037, London, Ontario, N6A 5C2, Canada. Information Structure and Statistical Information in Discrete Response Models1
Discrete response models are of high interest in economics and econometrics as they encompass treatment effects, social interaction and peer effect models, and discrete games. We study the impact of the structure of information sets of economic agents on the Fisher information of (strategic) interaction parameters in such models. While in complete information models the information sets of part...
متن کاملStrategic Evaluation of Sustainable Projects based on Hybrid Group Decision Analysis with Incomplete Information
– Sustainable evaluation of construction projects in strategy-focused condition is the main issue for municipalities to appropriately improve public sector services. In this respect, the group decision-making methods could help experts to select suitable sustainable projects and to schedule them regarding their ranking results. Therefore, the objective of this study is to present a hybrid group...
متن کاملParticipation in moral hazard problems
Two principals engage in Hotelling competition for an agent's services under incomplete information as to her outside option (location). This renders the agent's participation decision probabilistic from the perspective of each principal. Regardless of the market structure at equilibrium the optimal contract features a trade-off between participation probability and incentives. Rent and effort ...
متن کاملSemiparametric Estimation of a Dynamic Game of Incomplete Information
Recently, empirical industrial organization economists have proposed estimators for dynamic games of incomplete information. In these models, agents choose from a finite number actions and maximize expected discounted utility in a Markov perfect equilibrium. Previous econometric methods estimate the probability distribution of agents’ actions in a first stage. In a second step, a finite vector ...
متن کاملEnsemble-based Top-k Recommender System Considering Incomplete Data
Recommender systems have been widely used in e-commerce applications. They are a subclass of information filtering system, used to either predict whether a user will prefer an item (prediction problem) or identify a set of k items that will be user-interest (Top-k recommendation problem). Demanding sufficient ratings to make robust predictions and suggesting qualified recommendations are two si...
